Problem Statement

As the world moves into Hybrid models, one of our client wanted to maximize the showroom experience surpassing the physical vicinity. So they desired to make a 3d virtual replica that was more like a Metaverse of their showroom.

  • Aim- To engage their target audience online and drive footfall into the store. Also, to enhance interaction with customers who cannot visit the showroom in real life due to different reasons.
  • The Objective- To create a 3D virtual replica of the new showroom, which will serve as their Metaverse. This online showroom will be accessible to their customers globally who are interested in purchasing products.
  • Major Challenge- The store is highly interactive, which is one of its exclusive global features. This includes various unique, customizable zones, many innovative elements, and revolutionary new product designs. These are challenging issues to reproduce in the virtual environment. The main challenge was to match the texture quality & appearance of the laminate textures with similar lighting in the virtual showroom. With things on the web, we cannot use super high quality textures to match the precision in terms of quality output.

Our Solution

Design Methodology

In a span of one and a half months, we started from scratch and developed a 3D life-like virtual replica of the new showroom. We utilized a combination of optimised 3D Models, lighting & texturing that brought a real look to the laminate textures, Intrinsic Animations, & Web Virtual Reality that enhances the experience of a user in an engaging manner within the store.

We started by creating a 3D visualization to understand the current layout, design, and dimensions accurately. Then we moved on to generating a precise representation in the form of architectural walkthroughs, sections, rotational views, and finally, photorealistic images.

Approach

Due to the intricacies of this project, we adopted a multi-disciplinary design approach. We worked parallel with our client and the creative team to produce the best results.

Technical Features:

  • WebGL- We used WebGL technology with impactful 3D space renders to bring virtual reality to the web with modern compatible browsers supporting WebVR API.
  • 8k resolution 3D renders- We rendered 3D visuals in 8k resolution to provide detailed clarity.
  • 3D modeling (low-polygon technique)- We also used low polygon 3D modeling techniques that are capable of producing quality results at a lesser computational power. Due to this, rendering time was reduced significantly.
  • Interactive Interfaces- These interfaces are capable of physics simulation and can also handle three-dimensional audio and animations.
  • Optimized for varied devices- We tested our product on different devices during its development phase. It is compatible with a varied range of devices & simulators.
  • Real-time user analytics- We have implemented tools to collect user behavior and generate relevant insights that help to export valuable acuities of the customer, which is not feasible in an offline store.

The Derivative

The virtual replica of the store serves as an effective promotional tool for the client. The client is able to share the experience with their customers on a global scale. The platform allowed the client to provide a virtual interactive experience where customers can explore the new showroom’s design, functionalities, layout, products, and even book consultations. This digital replica of this new showroom was launched on their website to increase online visibility of the products. Now anyone can access this Metaverse at any point of time across the globe with ease.
